Finally, there is a bright blue circle on their backs, but it is only safe to target when the Scion is distracted by your squadmates or a Combat Drone. The hump on their back also receives more damage.Repeatedly shooting a Scion's "head" can also cause micro-stuns that slow its advance and rate of fire. Firstly, their head is located on their right 'shoulder' and shots landed there will deal greatly increased damage.Unlike other enemies, there are several weak spots on a Scion's body that you can exploit:.Scions move very slowly, but they relentlessly advance on their targets. It is immune to most disabling effects from powers, with Stasis being a notable exception. The Scion is heavily armored, but does not possess any barriers, shields or health. At very close range, Scions can unleash a deadly burst in a small area that deals more damage the closer it is to the target this attack also causes stuns. This can be counteracted by any ability that can manually/directly restore shields such as Tech Armor, Geth Shield Boost or Unity, as well as the Emergency Shielding research upgrade if the effect triggers. Direct hits cause a negative status effect, visible as a bluish residue, that will delay the normal recharge of friendly shields. Scions are armed with a powerful shoulder-mounted cannon which fires an advanced version of Shockwave that travels long distances, penetrates most cover, stuns affected targets, and deals heavy damage. Given the rarity of human biotics, it seems likely that these dust-form eezo nodules are deposited during their transformation, rather than requiring a biotic victim in the first place. The weapon creates a powerful warp effect, which is consistent with the eezo nodules visible in the scion's expansive nervous system. The scions' weapons, however, indicate that scions retain some living tissue, or at least sustain some of the same electrochemical reactions as those of a human biotic. This decentralization makes them highly resistant to gunshot wounds even a headshot is not a certain kill. This indicates scions are an amalgam of several individuals, with one primary victim providing the frame and several "secondaries" providing the flesh for a decentralized semi-mechanical nervous system. These sacks contain brain matter and spinal tissue, too much to have come from just one victim. One arm is replaced with a construct that fits a large rifle, turning the creature into a humanoid weapons platform, and a fleshy sack is supported by the creature's back and head. Hoses rather than veins and muscle tissue join major portions of the body together. ![]() Like husks, they are cybernetically modified on a nano-scale so they can operate even in hard vacuum. Posthumous examination of their bodies reveals a skin tone resembling that of Reaper husks, but their transformation process seems more extensive. The scion's frame and skull are similar to those of a human or asari, but the bone structure is overlaid with a metallic resin. Though the exact fate of species captured by the Collectors is unclear, the humanoid appearance of the scions gives ghastly clues.

For example, the northern bees have fewer hooks than the south. There are also breed differences in the number of hooks. There is an increase in the total number of hooks (27-36), the number of abnormal hooks on the wing ranges from 1 to 16. In contrast to worker bees, drones can have anomaly – a lot of hooks. Worker bee has on the rear wing from 15 to 27 hooks, the queen – from 13 to 23, a drone – from 13 to 29. This ensures a strong bond of the rear and the front pair. During the movement the front wing with a crease, located on the rear edge, slides on the rear wing and hooks cling to it. The rear wing is provided at the forefront with a number of hooks, directed upwards. Therefore, we can assume that the specific venation of a rear wing is a morphological sign in the determination of belonging to a particular group or line of the same breed of bees. The specifics of the rear wing venation reflects the individual characteristics of each queen, and hence the families of bees. In addition, the drones have additional rear wing venation. ![]() ![]() The rear wing has a similar structure, but it is much smaller than the front. The veins form on the wing closed cells, which, as well as the veins have names: radial, cubital, discoidal. Their names are defined by the adjacent longitudinal veins. The cubital index helps to determine the breed of a bee, it is defined by a/b*100%, ie, the ratio of the length of a vein (a) of the third cubital cell to another vein (b). This feature is the same during all the year, is weakly correlated with the other conformation traits. On the wings of bees there are also the following longitudinal veins: subdiscoidal, the first return, the second return. Between them there is a short neural streak. “But he had to take a position and not think in that assembly-line manner anymore. Gordy would talk about how he felt afraid before Marvin put that record out, because he didn’t want to cause controversy,” Habtemariam says. With that came releases like Marvin Gaye’s game-changing 1971 album What’s Going On. The music had become a significant representation of youth culture, but as Motown matured through the ’60s, so did its social impact and influence. He became the bridge to bring people of all backgrounds and ages together.” What he was able to do then was really phenomenal. But then he had bigger goals and dreams, like to make it on television, which had been unheard of when it came to black artists. He was strategic in not wanting to allow radio to know that they were black artists, but to just get the songs played. “At those times in the ’60s, the country was still separated by race. “Berry had a vision, and he had a fearless kind of mentality,” Habtemariam says. Motown President Ethiopia Habtemariam, Courtesy of Stephanie MeiLing Soon after, he officially started Motown Records and had his first million-selling record with cowriter Smokey Robinson with The Miracles’ “ Shop Around.” At that point, Gordy kicked everything into full gear. So he founded Tamla Records out of a small house in Detroit that held a studio, rehearsal hall, and offices where all the business, promo, and distribution of the records were handled. The label has been home to more than a few legends, like Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross & The Supremes… the list goes on and on. The name Motown, all on its own, contains multitudes. My original video review that I made many many years ago can be found here, and below is a transcription of that video: This is one of those vapes that everybody needs in their collection because of how unique it is. I personally feel it works best as a quick vape for taking just a handful of light draws at a time, but many people use this in a variety of scenarios and are extremely satisfied with it. Yes there are better vapes out there, and yes this thing looks stupidly simple for the price, but believe me when I tell you it works like a champ. When using just a pinch of herb (~0.1g) you should be able to get roughly 5-8 draws from it, but it does depend on how you use it. If you do this just make sure you get all your herb back down into the center trench before vaping again. They include a nice brush that you can use the back end of to gently mix your herb up, or you can keep the lid closed and give your box a shake to mix it all around. What’s also very important with this vape is that you need to mix your material up in between draws, or at least every other draw. More specifically, the taste and smoothness might not be as good as some other vapes, but it’s still actually potent which proves how effective it really is. Vapor quality is good from this one but isn’t really what I would consider top-shelf, it’s just about average. ![]() The other method is to engage the battery and take small “sips” from the mouthpiece every few seconds, letting vapor build up inside the trench between each draw. If your material overheats you didn’t draw fast enough, and if you get no vapor at all you may be drawing too quickly. The two main ways I use mine are by either taking one long draw or by taking a bunch of small pulls in a row.įor a single draw you basically just engage the battery and then very slowly pull from the mouthpiece for 5-10 seconds. The idea is that you can control and custom tailor your vaping experience by how long you heat your herb for and how quickly you draw from it. This vape is very efficient, and it works great with amounts as low as 0.1g (just a pinch). Grinding fine increases the surface area of your herb which helps this vape do a better job of producing vapor. Very important: You need to grind your herb super fine for the best performance. The Launch Box does require some technique to get the best results from it, but after just a few uses you’ll get used to it and it’ll become second nature. ![]() It’s also still one of the smallest, lightest and quickest vapes I’ve ever reviewed. It’s a fairly inexpensive vape, but it doesn’t feel cheap or cheesy, and I think for the price it’s well worth the investment. The base kit includes two batteries and a charging dock, as well as rubber caps for the ends of the batteries and a good quality cleaning brush.Įven though this thing is really simple it does feel like a well-made product, and it definitely took a lot of hard thinking to make a vaporizer with no electrical components vaporize so effectively. What’s pretty unique about this one is that you use a single AA rechargeable battery to power it. I has an acrylic lid attached that you slide open and closed over the herb chamber, and an acrylic stem or mouthpiece is also included that you insert into the draw hole on the front. There’s a stainless steel mesh screen inside the trench area connected to two metal rods, and those make contact with the battery when you press it in which heats up the chamber. So it’s basically just a wooden box and there are three main wood types to choose from: Maple, Cherry and Walnut.Ĭarved into the box is a trench (herb chamber), draw hole, air intake hole, and battery port. I do have to mention that I love the Arizer Solo 2 Vaporizer WHAT ARE THE BEST PORTABLE VAPORIZERS IN 2023? Category This was my second vape purchase ever (first was the Volcano) and to this day I still consider it one of the best portables I’ve reviewed. ![]() It’s expensive, but this travel adapter will satisfy even the most gadget-laden of travelers. There’s support for the Power Delivery (PD) and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) standards (Samsung uses PPS in its flagship range), so it can fast-charge almost any phone or tablet. That means you can leave your laptop's charging brick behind (if it charges via USB-C). ![]() Using gallium nitride technology, Zendure was able to increase the power output of the USB-C port to 65 watts, capable of fully charging a 13-inch MacBook Pro in under two hours. There are four USB-C ports alongside a single USB-A port and an AC socket, so you can charge six devices simultaneously. Sadly, there's no grounding, so you shouldn't use this adapter with any device that has a third metal grounding pin on its plug. The latest version also sports a funky, translucent design with a metallic finish (purple is best). (It covers more than 200 countries.) There’s an auto-resetting fuse to protect your gadgets from power surges, and the Passport III has a 10 amp limit. It has a boxy design with sliding toggles to switch between US, European, and British plugs. Zendure's all-in-one travel adapter is what I toss in my bag first for every trip. The downside? It's frequently out of stock. The rare British Standard 8546 compliance guarantees that the OneWorld PD has been fully tested and is one of the safest travel adapters you can buy. Over-current protection automatically shuts down the power if there’s abnormal usage, and it resets via a button on the top. Most universal travel adapters offer two-pin US plugs and make the third pin on the UK plug plastic, but the OneWorld PD provides fully grounded connections for every plug type to protect you from the risk of shock due to faulty wiring. What sets the AC plugs apart is that each one is earthed. You can plug in your laptop's AC charger to speedily juice it back up, but that means carrying the heavy charging brick around. That's enough to fast-charge most phones and tablets, not so much a laptop. There are three USB-A ports on the bottom as well as a USB-C port that supports Power Delivery and Quick Charge 3.0 to deliver up to 18 watts. It promises to work in more than 150 countries. The OneWorld PD has sliding toggles on the side that cover the US/Canada, the UK, and Australia/China, and you can pop out a much smaller stand-alone European adapter. ( This video explains grounding really well.) Thankfully, there's overload protection with an 8-amp fuse, and it comes with a spare, but you should not use this adapter with any device that has a third metal ground pin on its plug. The main problem is the lack of any grounding, which is meant to reduce the risk of an electrical shock if there's a fault, such as a loose wire inside a device with a metal case. The USB-A ports can deliver a maximum charging rate of 15.5 watts, while the USB-C ports offer up to 18 watts (one PD and one QC 3.0). You have a universal input socket, and Ceptics has included three USB-A ports on the bottom and two USB-C ports on the side. I appreciate how securely the plugs lock into place, and you must press a side button to retract them. ![]() The classic slider design pushes out EU, UK, and US plugs, and you can rotate the pins for sockets in Australia or China. Jet off to more than 200 countries with this compact adapter in your luggage, and you can charge up all your gadgets. For example, if the clinician anticipates that the patient will be placed on Ventilator 1 (PIP = 20 cmH2O, PEEP = 10 cmH2O, I:E = 30:70) then the transport ventilator PEEP should be set to approximately 10 cmH2O when measuring C. To account for this, the transport ventilator used to measure the patient-specific C should be set at a PEEP the clinician judges to be within similar range of what they would expect for the PEEP value on the final long-term ventilator. Therefore, the value of C found on the transport ventilator is only valid for PEEPs similar to what is set on the transport ventilator. In many ARDS patients, lung compliance is non-linearly dependent on ventilation pressure due to volume-dependent tissue stiffness and pressure-dependent derecruitment 27, 28. Of course, the operator would also confirm that the total required Vt for the 4 patients does not exceed the maximum available Vt from the ventilator. Ideally, a free ventilator would be kept near the shared ventilation ward to use for weaning and if lung function rapidly deteriorates in any patient. If the patient was deteriorating, the patient could also be moved to a higher-numbered ventilator. Patient lung mechanics (C and R) could be periodically re-evaluated, along with gas exchange, and if they improved, they could be moved to a lower-number ventilator (lower number ventilator indicated lower PIP, lower PEEP, and lower FiO2) 3. Alternatively, the patient could also be assigned to a single-patient ventilator if lung function is not compatible with shared ventilation. Based on those measurements, and the settings on the transport ventilator, the patient would be assigned to one of the five ventilator categories listed in Table 1 (or in Fig. These patients would be intubated and ventilated for 30-60 min using a transport ventilator that measures R and C while they are moved within the hospital. Our hypothetical clinical workflow would be initiated in a patient when 15 L/min O 2 delivered via nasal cannula is insufficient to maintain oxygenation. We will also provide a discussion of possible complications to be considered in a clinical setting when supporting more than one patient on a single mechanical ventilator. Based on these 3 controlled parameters for each ventilator, we provide a graphical reference for choosing the correct ventilator for a simulated patient, based on lung compliance (C) and resistance (R), to achieve the desired tidal volume (Vt). ![]() A pre-set fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO 2 ), positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), peak inspiratory pressure (PIP), and inspiratory:expiatory ratio (I:E) is suggested for each ventilator. Farkas MD has suggested a setup of 5 ventilator configurations 3, which could each support 4 patients. This manuscript has the following overall objective: J. In this study, we utilized a computational modeling approach to evaluate the efficacy and considerations of ventilating multiple patients on a single ventilator. This is particularly of concern when attempting to ventilate multiple patients on a single machine because ventilator adjustments are applied to both patients, making titration to avoid VILI challenging. ![]() Ventilation of any patient must be done with great care to avoid ventilator induced lung injury (VILI) 10 that damages the lung through the combined effects of tissue overdistension (volutrauma) 11- 15, cyclic derecruitment and recruitment of small airways and alveoli (atelectrauma) 16- 20, and inflammatory effects (biotrauma) 21- 24. Nevertheless, faced with few good options, New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University have distributed a protocol for this approach 9. ![]() They also correctly point out that previous citations experimenting with this technique have also cautioned against using it 4, 7, 8. They list numerous important safety concerns for ventilating multiple patients on a single ventilator and warn that it could lead to poor outcomes and increased mortality. However, the American College of Chest Physicians (CHES) and other leading organizations issued a statement on March 26 th, 2020, warning practitioners not to attempt this practice 2. The sudden surge in patients flooding intensive care units (ICUs) around the country has created a scarcity of mechanical ventilators 2, 3, which has caused some centers to consider dual-patient (and sometimes even quad-patient) ventilation during critical ventilator shortages 3- 6. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of March 28 th, 2020, the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, causing the disease COVID-19) initiated in Wuhan, China, has now been detected in 202 countries with over half-a-million confirmed cases worldwide 1. |
